Supporters of the Charter commit to involving employees in decision-making and managing change through effective communication and consultation, including engaging positively with trade unions.

Demonstrating commitment to excellent practice

If you want to take it a step further, and demonstrate excellence, Charter members will provide evidence of a confident, empowered workforce creating an effective relationship between individuals, workforce and management where opinions can be safely heard and shared. Members of the Charter will put their commitment to Engagement & Voice into action within their organisations by meeting the following set of criteria.

  1. Involvement of employees in decision-making and managing change through effective communication and consultation, including staff surveys, appraisals, employee voice groups and one-to-ones.
  2. Engaging positively with trade unions.
  3. A sustainability representative or sustainability working group for businesses with over 50 employees.
