Engagement & Voice
Good employers encourage positive communication at work.
A good employer acknowledges that active employee engagement involves open communication, empowering employees to voice their opinions, recognising their good work, and creating trust and transparency within the organisation.
These employers understand the significance of involving employees in decision-making and navigating change through effective communication and consultation. This includes creating a positive engagement with trade unions, all of which can have a favourable impact in the workplace.

What are the benefits of employee engagement?
- Workplace satisfaction. Employees who feel a strong sense of belonging in their company are not only more likely to feel satisfied with their job, but are more motivated and less likely to search for a new role. A disengaged employee cost companies £2,500 to £7,500 a year.
- Communication and engagement. Communication between management teams and employees is essential to enable employees to feel more connected with the company’s goals and values. Businesses with highly engaged employees are 18% more productive than their competitors.
- Building trust. Strong employee engagement can have huge and lasting benefits for both you and your employees, affecting everything from wellbeing and retention to profitability.
