What challenges and opportunities is your business facing, and how do you think the Charter can address them?

Our business is facing a period of strong growth which comes off the back of an incredibly high standard of work and a reputation for blending award-winning creativity with technical innovation - a combination that has recently earned us a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation. We hope that the Charter can play a small part in supporting our growth by showcasing and introducing us to like-minded businesses in the region. We also believe that in an ever-competitive recruitment market, being showcased as a responsible employer, will enable us to remain competitive when seeking the best talent.

As a recently B-corp certified company that is committed to social responsibility - including looking after our employees - we look forward to being involved in a local community where we can share our learnings and hear from others. There's always room to be better.

How do you think the standards will positively impact your employees and business as a whole?

We expect to expand our network of like-minded businesses across the south west, some who we hope will become future suppliers and others future clients to Storm.

What do you think the benefits are of introducing good employment practice across the West of England?

A happier, healthier, inclusive and driven workforce in the area, as well as an established model for fledgling businesses to work towards.

B-corp status requires our business standards to be amongst the highest world-wide, however there is always room for improvement. The Charter is another reminder that continuous improvement is in everybody's best interests.

About the Charter

The Good Employment Charter is an accreditation scheme that aims to improve employment standards in the West of England for organisations of all sizes and sectors, through characteristics that will raise the value and quality of work, allowing employers to become an ‘employer of choice’, leading them to higher staff retention rates, better productivity and contributing to a thriving economy.

The West of England Good Employment Charter will set the standard for working practices in the region. Supporting businesses of any size or sector to improve investment in their staff, enabling more inclusive, equitable & sustainable working practices, positively benefiting people, society, and the wider economy.
